Basya Tsybukmakher
A mother’s prayer for her children and loved ones is appropriate at any time, but Jewish women customarily recite it immediately after lighting the candles and saying the blessing.
Please note that women generally accept Shabbat upon themselves when lighting the candles, so you should print out this prayer in advance rather than read it from a screen.

May it be Your will, L-rd my G-d and G-d of Israel, to show compassion to me [and to my husband, my sons and daughters, my father and mother] and all my loved ones. Grant us and all Israel a good and long life. Remember us for goodness and blessing, recall us for salvation and compassion, grant us great blessings, fill our homes with complete goodness and let Your Presence dwell among us. Grant me the merit of raising children and grandchildren who are wise and understanding, who love the L-rd and revere G-d, people of truth, holy offspring living in unity with the Creator, illuminating the world with Torah, good deeds and every achievement in the Creator’s service. Please hear my supplication at this hour through the merit of Sarah and Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, our matriarchs. Illuminate our souls, and may this light never go out. Shine Your face upon us, and we shall be saved! Amen. | Yehi ratson milefanekha Adoynoy Elohay, Elohey Israel, shetekhonen oti (veet ishi, veet banay, veet bnotay, veet avi, veet imi,) veet kol krovay, vetiten lanu ulekhol Israel khaim tovim vaarukim, vetizkerenu bezikhron tova uvrakha, vetifkedenu bifkudat yeshua verakhamim, vetashkin shkhinatkha beynenu, vezakenu legadel banim uvney vanim khakhamim unevonim ohavey Adoynoy, irey Elohim, anshey emet, zera kodesh, baAdoynoy dvekim, umeerim et haolam baTora uvemaasim tovim uvekhol mlekhet avodat haBore. |
