Preparation
Cabbage “Cigar” Pastries—a recipe for wonderful pastries made with thin, crisp dough. This dish has become one of my favorites and is quick and easy to make.
The filling can be absolutely anything: sweet, meat, vegetable, farmer's cheese, berries, and so on. The dough is soft, elastic, pliable, and effortless to roll out. I highly recommend making these!
For the cabbage filling, shred the cabbage, finely chop the onion, and grate the carrot.
Place the cabbage in a frying pan with vegetable oil and sauté. Then add the onion and grated carrot. Season with salt to taste. Transfer the cooked filling to a plate and leave to cool.
While the filling cools, prepare the dough:
Put the flour in a bowl. Add the water. Mix and season with salt to taste. Pour in the vegetable oil. Knead into a soft, elastic dough. Add more flour if necessary. The dough is very easy to work with: it does not stick to the rolling pin and rolls out easily into a very thin layer.
Divide the dough into 14 portions. Roll out each portion very thinly, into an almost transparent sheet.
Place the cabbage filling along the edge of the sheet and roll it into a “cigar”-shaped tube.
(Try to make the pastries the same size.) Place them on a baking sheet greased with oil.
Bake in the oven at 180-200 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until golden brown.
Enjoy!
