Preparation
There is rain outside the window (at last)) and a biting wind; a wall of damp fog hides the nearby houses... Just the time for a cup (or a mug)) of hot chocolate!
To be honest, we are fans of chocolate in all its forms, but finding a good hot chocolate recipe is not as easy as it might seem at first. This recipe was ceremoniously tested on cats family members and approved :) (both for tasting and for publication).
And best of all, it takes no more than ten minutes to make this treat... So I recommend it!
Heat 3/4 cups of water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the cocoa powder (not ‘Nesquik’ or anything similar, but 100% cocoa) and stir until dissolved. Then add the milk and bring back to a boil.
Break the chocolate into small pieces and add it to the milk along with the sugar.
Cook, stirring, until the chocolate has melted and the entire drink is smooth and creamy, about 5 minutes. (Above all, do not step away: at this stage, the hot chocolate tends to boil over and burn!)
Whip the cream, preferably not too sweet (I used 32% dairy cream, and it turned out wonderfully).
Pour the hot chocolate into cups, add whipped cream to each, and dust with cocoa (if you wish, you can sprinkle grated chocolate on top instead).
Mmmmm.... Your serving of good cheer is ready!
Here’s to the start of winter!
