The sons of the righteous mashgiach Rav Eliyahu Lopian (zt"l) related in his name:
“I know from my teachers that women who, during the Yamim Noraim (the Days of Awe), stay home (and do not go to the synagogue to pray with the entire congregation) because they must care for babies and young children do not need communal prayer or the uplifting atmosphere created in the synagogue in order for their prayers to ascend to the Almighty.
These mothers have a direct channel to the Almighty’s Throne of Glory during the very short time they have left between their tasks and can devote to prayer.
They draw near to the higher worlds along with the entire holy congregation, which stands for long hours in prayer, crowns G‑d with His crown, and asks the King of kings, who sits on a high and exalted throne, for mercy.”
In addition, the book “Tzaddik Katamar Yifrach” cites the following in the name of our teacher Rav A. Y. L. Shteinman, author of “Ayelet Hashachar” (ztzk"l):
“A mother who is caring for her young children and barely manages to open a machzor during Rosh Hashanah should not be anxious or worry that she will have a bad year because of this. On the contrary, in the merit of this mitzvah that she has to attend to—caring for young children—she will merit a good year!”
When the Chafetz Chaim’s children were young, he told his wife that she was exempt from (holiday) prayer.
