Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky's Words on Coronavirus

With G-d's help                                                                                  Adar 5780

On Concerns About Contracting Coronavirus

Everyone should strengthen their observance of the Torah's commandments and take particular care to avoid slander and gossip, as stated in the Gemara in Arakhin 15: “He separated (through his slander) a husband and wife; let him sit alone” (the quotation uses the expression "yoshev boded," which shares a root with the word "bidud," the term for quarantine — translator's note).

And strengthen one's qualities of humility and willingness to yield, as the Rosh wrote in his commentary at the end of tractate Horayot.

May these merits protect everyone who intensifies his efforts in this—him and his household—so that none of them falls ill!
