Rabbi Yissocher Frand: biography and Torah teaching

Rabbi Yissocher Frand is a Torah teacher and author associated with Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore, Maryland. Originally from Seattle, he studied at Ner Israel and received rabbinical ordination there. The institution’s official faculty page lists him as a rebbe.

The weekly parashah and everyday life

His published teachings connect the weekly Torah portion with Jewish ethics and everyday decisions. Stories and commentaries invite reflection on responsibility, family relationships and personal growth.

Torah.org publishes written adaptations of his lectures in its Rav Frand series. Its articles also credit the people preparing the written version: David Twersky for transcription and Dovid Hoffman for editing. These credits describe that series and do not replace the attribution attached to an individual article.

Books

ArtScroll/Mesorah publishes his books in English, including the Rabbi Frand on the Parashah series and The Power of a Vort. These collections bring together explanations of the Torah portion, stories and reflections on human behaviour. Their short teachings can provide a starting point for further discussion, including at the Shabbat table.
