Segulot for Shavuot
Sephardic segulot for Shavuot from Rabbanit Smadar Avitan

1. The Alshich HaKadosh says that Shavuot is the most auspicious time to pray for a zivug (a soulmate).

2. If you are already married, ask the Creator to strengthen the love between you and your husband (As Leah went from being "unloved" to being "married" - משנואה לנשואה).

3. Shavuot is a time to pray to conceive children. (On Shavuot, Leah conceived Issachar, who symbolizes the Torah).

4. On the morning of the festival, rise early, go to the synagogue to hear the 10 Commandments, bless your children, and ask the Creator for everything you dream of. At these moments, it is as though the Creator places a crown on your head.

5. Health. During the festival, it is good to pray for a full recovery. It was on Shavuot, before the giving of the Torah, that the Almighty healed His people.

6. It is customary to decorate your home for the festival with green branches and pleasantly scented flowers.

7. Recite Psalms on Shavuot night.

8. If you eat matzah on Shavuot, you will be protected from a scorpion sting.

9. It is customary to eat dairy products or to make one of the meals a dairy meal. The Torah is compared to milk—"milk and honey from your lips."

10. It is customary for women to bake a "twisted" challah for Shavuot, with 7 steps symbolizing a ladder.

11. Send your husband to the synagogue for the entire night, and in the merit of the Torah he studies, his life will be extended by another year. (As it is said, a Jew who stays awake and studies on Shavuot night will not be consigned to death that year).

Chag Shavuot Sameach!
