The Chida’s prayer against the evil eye

EnglishHebrewEnglish transliteration

I adjure that you be protected from every kind of evil eye: a black eye, yellow eye, blue eye, green eye, long eye, small eye, wide-open eye, narrow eye, clear eye, crooked eye, round eye, deep-set eye, protruding eye, seeing eye, searching eye, piercing eye, alluring eye, a man’s eye and a woman’s eye, the eyes of a husband and wife, the eyes of a mother and daughter, the eyes of a woman and her relative, a young man’s eye and an old man’s eye, an old woman’s eye and a girl’s eye, the eye of a woman who has known a man, the eye of a widow, of a married woman and of a divorced woman—from every kind of evil eye in the world. All who have looked, stared or spoken with an evil eye about (name and father’s name), I turn aside and adjure through the power of the Supreme Eye: the Holy Eye, the One Eye, the Radiant Eye, the Eye of light within light, the Eye encompassing every shade of light, the Eye wholly of truth, the Wise Eye, the All-seeing Eye, the Merciful Eye, the Eye of mercy within mercy, the Eye encompassing every form of compassion, the Eye without defect, the Eye that neither sleeps nor slumbers, the Eye that strikes and drives away every evil eye, the Eye guarding Israel, as it is written: “Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps,” and: “The L-rd’s eye is upon those who fear Him, who hope for His compassion.” By the power of this Supreme Eye I drive away and adjure every kind of evil eye, so that they disappear, disperse, become concealed and withdraw from (name and father’s name) and all his household. May they have no power over (name and father’s name) or any of his household, by day or night, awake or asleep, over any of his 248 limbs or 365 sinews (for a woman say: over any of her limbs or sinews), his/her hair or nails, from now and for all eternity. Amen; may this be Your will for all eternity. Selah.
“You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble and surround me with joyous songs of deliverance. Selah!”
“Selah! With joyous songs of deliverance surround me; protect me from trouble, my hiding place are You!” (Recite three times.) Then recite Psalm 91.
