The segulah “In the ninth month, on the ninth day, in the ninth hour of the day” is mentioned in many books by our sages. Its essence is that in the ninth month (the month of Kislev), on the ninth day of the month, in the ninth hour of the day, a special time arrives, an et ratzon, more favorable for our requests than all other days and hours.
The book Chesed LeAvraham says of this that “the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month is most conducive to success,” because it corresponds to “the channel of all abundance.”
This is the moment when the gates of heaven open and goodness pours out upon the world—upon everyone who has prepared a suitable “vessel” to receive that goodness.
At this hour, everyone can open their heart in prayer and ask the Almighty for whatever they need most. It is also good to give tzedakah beforehand, to have additional merit at the moment when we ask the Almighty to open His generous hand to us and answer our requests. Many recite David's psalms (Tehillim) at this time.
Regarding the precise time, talmidei chachamim versed in the laws concerning time have expressed different views on what exactly should be considered the ninth halachic hour of the ninth day. At the request of the charity “Kupat Ha'ir,” all the sages' opinions were compared, and nine minutes were identified that fall within the “ninth hour” according to all opinions.
In the year 5778, this period is from 13:41 to 13:50 in the afternoon on the 9th day of the month of Kislev (Monday, 27.11.17), Israel time.
May G-d grant that the Almighty answer all our prayers, and that we all be able to receive His blessings! Amen!
