Yom Kippur is far from the easiest day in any Jew's life...
On this day, the judgment already pronounced on Rosh Hashanah is sealed. As is known, the entire Jewish people therefore fasts (neither eating nor drinking).
On this holy day, we observe all the laws of Shabbat and, in addition, do not wear leather shoes. It is also customary not to wash one's face (except during the first year after the wedding) or wash one's hands fully (only the fingertips). To help us remember the prohibition on marital intimacy, it is customary to light a candle in the bedroom beforehand. Unlike the fast of Tisha B'Av, Yom Kippur is a holiday, a day on which repentance and joy should meet.
In my new episode, naturopath Meira Avrahami shares her professional approach to preparing your body as thoroughly as possible for this challenging day—a fast lasting 25 hours.
