Preparation
This chocolate cake came to me (in recipe form) from Zurich itself, which is how it got its name. I suspect the recipe is quite international, because chocolate cake is loved everywhere in the world! And I love cakes made on the principle of "mix everything together and pop it in the oven," that always turn out well ;), and always delight the children... So, meet the Zurich Chocolate Cake.
Mix all the ingredients in the order listed above, pour into a baking pan (I line mine with parchment paper), and bake at 180 ºC for about 1 hour.
Once the cake has cooled, you can decorate it according to your preferences and what you have available: I often use pareve cream whipped with cocoa, which makes a delicate frosting. A cake baked on a baking sheet can easily be cut into 2 pieces and stacked, making a tall, quite substantial layer cake ;-) . You can cover the cake with a chocolate glaze, such as this one:
200 g chopped dark chocolate 200 ml cream (1 package) 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (heat the cream, add the chocolate pieces, melt while stirring, add the oil, and stir again)
You can decorate this cake with berries or fruit, dust it with powdered sugar or drizzle it with lemon glaze, make any frosting you like or buy it ready-made...
Enjoy getting creative—and the delicious result!
