Before filling in the mikveh and separation dates calculator, identify which starting information you already have. There are three different modes. Choosing a mode helps you ask the right calendar question and identify information that is still missing.
1. Choose your starting situation
- Hefsek already completed. This mode uses the date of a confirmed hefsek taharah to count the seven clean days. It does not determine whether the hefsek itself was valid.
- From the start of a new period. Enter the onset and the waiting-period rule you already follow. An option names a particular rule, not every custom of a community. If your rule is absent, this mode is unsuitable.
- Separation dates. This is a separate calculation of anticipated veset dates. Niddah days, seven clean days and anticipated separation dates mean different things; one mode’s result cannot replace another.
2. Check the city, date and time
All dates and times refer to the selected city. Enter the civil date, check the time zone and use your local time. The onset mode offers options for an exact time, daylight before sunset, an evening after nightfall, and uncertainty around sunset. Choose the option that matches what you know.
The separation dates mode asks different questions, including day or night and the calculation method. Follow the prompts for that mode. Clarify an unfamiliar rule rather than selecting one at random.
3. Review the conditions attached to the result
The result is a conditional calendar estimate to review. It is not permission to immerse and does not settle personal halachic questions. Check the starting dates, selected rules and notes alongside the result. Changing a field clears the previous result, so you need to calculate again.
Common questions
My city or rule is not listed. What next? Do not substitute a nearby value just to obtain a date. Clarify the appropriate calculation for your situation.
